Tonight, the last Saturday in March, individuals, families, cities, governments around the world are reminded to turn off all lights and appliances for one hour, between 8pm-9pm their time.
The concept was born in Sydney, Australia in 2004 as a campaign of hope instead of fear for residents of the world to get involved in protecting the planet. The idea is simple and spread around the globe at lightning speed before Al Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth was released.
